Safety first

safety should be a prime concern when fishing, that’s why you shouldn’t use barbed hooks. that stuff is dangerous for you, and what’s worse, for the fish.

plus, there’s evidence of a meaningful statistical correlation between use of barbs and foul breath. Drop them already, before someone gets hurt.

Also, don’t wade in the nude.

  1. One of the best things about barbless hooks (to my mind) is that they give the fly greater longevity. Without a barb, the fly usually just falls out of the fish’s mouth and you don’t have to use hemo’s, and so your flies last much longer.
